Reasons why you should not update your Tecno Camon C8 to Marshmallow

Tecno mobile on 9th May, 2016 announced their Marshmallow updates to Camon C8 device through their Facebook page. Camon C8 is powered by MT6735 chipset running Android Lollipop 5.0 at 1.3GHz quad-core processor and 1GB RAM. These are good take adding to its dominance over mobile technology in Nigeria.

Why you should not update to Marshalmallow.

Scarce Custom Recovery Support

Every Android device comes with stock recovery. This Stock Recovery is only limited in functions - allows you to *Reset factory settings, *Clear Cache. Custom Recovery has extended features unlike the case of stock Recovery; It allows you to create Nan Android backup, Restore backups in case of upgrade failure, clear Dalvic and battery stats.

Your updates comes from a server. During your updates, you are downloading from a server usually in a zip file. Most of things from the server are bound to file corruption. Your device might enter into a loop boot which is a situation where your device reboots continuously or get stuck in the brand logo during booting. A conventional practice before upgrading your device to a different OS build is to create a backup of your old OS which is scarce in the case of MTK devices. Unless you meet the bad guys on the street or perhaps a phone technician

Hardware incompatibility (RAM)

Most MTK devices are somewhat low budget and medium-range. Devices are launched with their calculated hardware specifications. Camon C8 runs on Lollipop 5.0, 1GB, 1.3GHZ dual-core processor and that is great. Google has provided recommendations for the RAM required to run Android 5.x which varies from 416 MB to 1824MB. Therefore, the lower the size, worse would be the performance.

In practical situations, like that of engaging Android users (gamers, social app addicts) recommendation should be getting at least 2GB ram phones nowadays for smooth performance even after installing apps.

Battery Usage

Lollipop sucked a lot of juice out of device's battery which sometimes can be felt by hotness around the battery region in MTKs.

How is battery used?

Talking about Marshmallow, a more systematic and much needed update, 2GB RAM and 2GHz dual would be sufficient enough to sustain battery juice and phones RAM management.

I'm a fan to Android devices. I write not to savage any brand but to assure that user's experience is optimized.
