How to fix Facebook has stopped Android 2018

If you have been receiving annoying pop up from Facebook app saying Facebook has stopped, then there are chances that the Facebook app has experienced some changes that require update.

Just like normal Android apps has unexpectedly stopped working which is usually as a result of poor system updates, old apps that required newer updates or too many cached and expired app logs.

1. Clear Facebook App Cache data

Clearing Facebook app cache data will delete all recent app logs on your Facebook app. This doesn’t mean that you will be logged out of Facebook by clearing cache.

When you clear cache, it will wipe tiny activities on Facebook like closing Facebook app from memory, resetting your active Facebook News Feed to default recent feeds.

  1. Open device Settings or
  2. Long press on Facebook icon from App drawer and tap App info
  3. From device Settings, Go to Apps or App Manager depending on your phone type
  4. Locate Facebook under downloaded tab
  5. Tap Clear Cache to wipe off Facebook cache

 

2. Clear Facebook App data

Facebook app data is slightly different from cache. In a normal sense, cache is also a part of app data. Facebook app data contains all your Facebook app details including your logged in session, settings, local storage.

When you clear Facebook app data, it is more likely to say that you have just downloaded a new Facebook app. To clear app data is like factory reset when it comes to mobile app.

How to clear Facebook app data

  1. Open device Settings or
  2. Long press on Facebook icon from App drawer and tap App info
  3. From device Settings, Go to Apps or App Manager depending on your phone type
  4. Locate Facebook under downloaded tab
  5. Tap Clear Data to wipe off Facebook data

If clearing facebook app cache and data could not fix the Facebook has stopped issue, then you just need to update your Facebook app from Play Store.

3. Update Facebook

To update Facebook, simply open Play store for official Facebook app with the right updates. If you found out that your own version of Facebook has no update on Play store, uninstall and reinstall it from Play Store.
