WhatsApp yesterday launched its desktop app for Windows and Mac users. The news was posted on its blog pointing to the need to stay in touch anytime and anywhere – whether on your phone or computer at home or work.

Although, we earlier hinted you from our earlier post which looked somewhat uncertain but it has become official gist. Unlike WhatsApp web which binds your communication with your friends in a web browser, this new release is fluid.

It is available from Windows 8+ and Mac OS X 10.9+. Because the app syncs with the WhatsApp on your mobile device, you now have  real-time notifications, keyboard shortcuts supports. Supported device are Android,  iOS,  Windows mobile 10, BlackBerry, Symbian S60.

To get started,  head straight to the https://www.whatsapp.com/download  on your desktop PC and click to download for PC. Once installed, open the app and scan the QR code using the WhatsApp app on your phone (look for WhatsApp Web menu under Settings).

Now,  you can chat with friends and family while your phone stays in your pocket.
